Senvelgo® oral solution
A breakthrough in feline diabetes management
Feline diabetes mellitus is a common endocrine disorder characterised by persistent hyperglycaemia due to impaired insulin production or insulin resistance. Without effective management, it can lead to polyuria, polydipsia, weight loss and reduced quality of life.
Management has traditionally relied on twice-daily insulin injections and careful monitoring. Senvelgo® lowers blood glucose by increasing urinary glucose excretion, offering a once-daily, injection-free treatment option for appropriate feline patients. It is available in 12 ml and 30 ml bottle sizes to support both initiation and ongoing therapy.
How Senvelgo® works
Senvelgo® (velagliflozin) is an oral SGLT-2 inhibitor designed specifically for feline diabetes. Rather than replacing insulin, it works through a different pathway to reduce hyperglycaemia.
Its mode of action includes:
- Inhibition of SGLT-2 in the kidneys reduces reabsorption of glucose from the renal filtrate
- Increased urinary glucose excretion lowers circulating blood glucose levels
- Which relieves glucose toxicity
- This enables improved beta cell function and increased endogenous insulin production
- Resulting in diabetic control
